help :(

my mk2 was making a really loud tapping sound, changed the tappets it has stopped but not running properly dont even start anymore wants to start but just wont. i have changed spark plugs changed ht leads ested solanoid oil change and checked the ditributer cap and starter motor.

im all out off ideas can anyone help.
its has also been gtimed up properly

have you checked the coil?

how did it run before it died?

what engine is it and have you got fuel coming up?

Yh coil is fine it's sparking properly

what engine is it?

does it turnover?

does it turn over fast enough?

if your car is carb'd what is the condition of your carb, gasket and manifold?

in an old car like a mk2 and especially if its a driver etc (using a carb) its going to be either fuel or spark or a combination of both such as poor timing but you say its been timed up properly

Took to a mechanic to look at it it need whole rebuild. need new engine anyone got one going lol? Cheers Will

why does it need a rebuild? what is wrong with it?

It's a 1.6 8 valve the valves are all bent

Also found new engine for it now so all good
