| Coming along mate, car looks awsome in that colour. What did you decide to do with the engine in the end mate? Have you gone for a cable change box? Also If you don't mind saying or ya wanna pm me, what work was involved in preping/spraying the car and how much did it cost? | |

| My Abf lump was from an L-reg mk3. The early one's didn't have immobilisers in the ecu so didn't have to worry about that. If you've got the key from the car you got it from you could tape that to the transponder and stick it up under the dash somwhere. Otherwise i'd imagine you'd have to get it unlocked or find an unlocked one on ebay. Yea when I get mine sprayed it'll be off the road so I can take the time to remove all the windows, tirm ect ect. Never really done any bodywork before though so it's gunna be finding a balance between what I can/am willing to do and cost. Don't really know how far to go with it, full blowover would be best I think but I dunno whether to just get the bits that need doing done, and polish up the rest with a DA. I guess when the time comes I'll have a chat to a few people and gert some opinions. | |

| cheers.i am well pleased with how its looking at mo. it got painted in a water base colour then 4 coats of 2k laquer and i wet flated the whole car. it has dulled down a bit because of the wet flating and needs going over with a mop again. and then plenty of wax putting on it. i got the transponder and key out of the the mk3 golf but i haven got a clue where to wire it in to???? going to try and get it running on sun. how far would you strip the car down? you looking for engine bay painted as well? and inside all the doors? you gonna keep the same colour. if you need any info on the prep work give me a shout i will try and put you in the right direction. | |

| Well engine, master cylinder ect would be out so bare bay. It's Alpine white and would be staying that colour. I would say I proberly wouldn't go so far as painting the insides of the doors and that so would just be body and bay. There's a few bits of rust here and there, and 1 or 2 small dents that i'd wanna get out. Engine bay is painted in hammerite atm lol and people say that's an arse to strip back. Would do this though as engine bay needs some rust sorting out (under the battery tray), so would try welding a new bit in there. | |

| might be woth blasting if it's hammerited dude..it IS a fucker to strip...i tried it once with wire wheel and sandpaper and it just clogs it...i did it with heat gun and scraper in the end but took fookin ages...otherwise loads of nitromors or HRG paints stock a good stripper called repeel but its messy and time consuming. | |

| Stolen from another forum ...ABF ECU TYPES immobiliser numbers: 037-906-024-AE,AL,BE,BF NON immobiliser numbers: 037-906-024-F,G,AB This is the imboiliser module with transpnder inout from key or loop and diagnostic line and power. This is the junction block that you uses to connect a 2X2 or J1962 connector. 2X2 DLC connector Remove transponder from key and fasten to transponder loop if the PCM is a post 93. | |
