Operation gearbox.................

Hi guys, thought i would show todays progress in fitting my new gearbox in my split, altho the old one was ok i need a longer ratio box so my engine isnt screaming it tit's off doing 70-80, so i have brought a karmen ghia 1600 box which will do the job.

Got the gearbox stripped and fitted the correct staight axle tubes so then you dont need spacers on the springplates and also the shocks arent at funny angles,





then got the engine pulled out and the old gearbox











so now i have just got to the change the nose cones around, as the ghia cone is different to a bus one, refit the hubs and put new bearings in.

ive got adjusatble springplates to fir as well which will give fully adjustable rear height

got the nose cones changed tonight, one hub backing plate and new bearing fitted, an just made an order for some new bits

quick update, got the adjustable spring plates fitted tonight, hopefully the gearbox mounts should turn up tomorrow so then the gearbox can go in

she's all done, got her back on the road yesterday and she flies with the new gerabox in . got the back about an inch lower than before as well . pics to follow

whats happene to you exhaust blacky sticks out just a little bit to far but goood place to put you brew when servicing you engine

yeh does stick out abit far, a good leg catcher tho lol,

it's got a different header on than before, larger bore wihich has resulted it sticking out further and sitting higher, so the back bumper wont fit on without major surgery. so the plan is to find some bends and make my own exhaust up so it goes back under the van so the bumper will only will need a couple of holes cut in
